Looking to play Valorant? This is what you need to do!
The first-person shooter Valorant by Riot Games is quickly becoming the most hyped game of 2020. It is being promoted as a competitor to competitive games like Valve’s Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Blizzard’s Overwatch.
Notes about the beta:
- The closed beta is (sadly) only available on PC. Riot Games hasn’t commented on whether the game is coming to Xbox and PlayStation yet. I believe that Riot Games will release the game when PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X is released.
- The closed beta is for the United States, Europe, Canada, Russia, and Turkey servers. If you are from a country that isn’t represented there, you need to make a Riot Games account on one of those servers!
- Rumor has it that around 100,000 invites will be sent out.
- The beta goes live at 2 p.m. CEST on April 7th.
How-to Get a Valorant Beta Invite
Step 1: Create a Riot Games account (or login)
If you play League of Legends you already have a Riot Games account. If you don’t, you need to create an account on riotgames.com.
Step 2: Create a Twitch account (or login)
Step 3: Link both accounts together on Twitch
Go into your Twitch settings and link your Riot Games account to Twitch. Linking your gaming account to Twitch gives you access to promotions and drops that have been established between Twitch and the game developers.
Step 4: Watch Valorant streams on Twitch
Now that you have linked your Twitch and Riot Games account together you have the chance to get an invite by watching Valorant streams on Twitch. You should look for streams where it says there are drops enabled.
Step 5: Pray that you get invited!
Riot Games are only giving out a limited amount of beta invites, so you need to get lucky to get invited to the beta. If you are lucky enough to get invited, you will receive an email and a Twitch notification with instructions.
You can check your invite status on the Valorant website.
Step 6: Download Valorant
If you are lucky enough to get invited you can download the Valorant beta here.
